5/1 PRESS RELEASE
Redman House Progress Notes

President, Redman Foundation
APRIL 2004 In April we moved into the final phase of obtaining permanent non-profit status. During the first few years following incorporation, all California non-profits go through a trial review period. Donations are deductible during that time, but permanent status is given after final review of the type of service/activities and support the organization generates. The Redman Foundation has shown excellent progress and community support during this period (see our Supporters page) and should receive its permanent status within the next few weeks.
The nearly 400 trees planted in March for the demonstration farm apple orchard are starting to sprout their first green leaves. A couple of our local supporters suggested that we let donors sponsor trees at $500 each. We had our first four tree sponsors the very first day. Tree sponsors will have their names inscribed on permanent markers placed at the base of their tree and included on a master list both on site and on the Supporters page of our website. Tree sponsors can donate in a single payment, by installments or as a group of friends or business associates going together to put in the full $500. Each of the individuals in such a group can be listed on the marker.
Aside from the apple trees, we will be planting 22 palm trees to line the driveway leading to the house. Those trees will be available for sponsorship at $1,000 each. We also have several hundred iris to be sponsored at $10 each, rose bushes at $35, shrubs at $25 and various general garden plants at $15 each. If you would like to participate in this landscaping sponsorship, include with your donation check a note as to the type and number of plant(s)/tree(s) you want to sponsor and how you want your sponsorship identified on the marker.
We are presently planning a calendar of up-coming events and are working on development of the Agricultural Heritage Information Center with other local groups. We will give you event dates and further information about our activities in our next Progress Notes.
Your help and support is always appreciated. If you are reading this on our website, to be a volunteer on future activities click on the link "To Contact Us." Donations can be made payable to: "The Redman Foundation" and mailed to:
