11/15 PRESS RELEASE

Redman House Progress Notes

Redman Foundation

The Redman Foundation continues to move towards its goal of providing a gateway to the agricultural heritage of the Pajaro Valley. To help in the effort, it was announced that local attorney Michael Barsi and engineer Chris George have joined the Board. Members of some historic local farming families are also presently under consideration.

Working with representatives of other groups within the agricultural community, a Community Liaison Advisory Committee is being established, intended not only to focus on the Redman House project, but to direct interested visitors to other agricultural heritage attractions such as the Rogers House, the Agricultural History Project and the Codiga Museum at the Fairgrounds.

Plans are being laid for a series of fundraising activities throughout the next several months, including planting of a Corn Maze next Spring, which is being discussed as a possible joint activity to help raise funds for the Redman House and two other ag-related local projects.

But the first item on the schedule is the reopening of the produce stand under operation of the Watsonville Farmers Market group. In conjunction with the stand's reopening next week, arrangements are being made to include a Christmas Tree lot. Gift packs of local food products and crafts items are also expected to be available.

Additionally, Shadowbrook Restaurant is providing a fundraiser on December 2nd, when diners can identify themselves as Redman Foundation supporters at the time they make reservations, and a portion of their bill will be donated to the project. To make these special reservations, call 475-1222.
